TAP Meet-up

TAP Meet-up

September 2, 2026, 6:00 pm - 8:00 pm
AC Satellite
561 St. Francis St.
Mobile, Alabama 36602

Let’s get together and talk about arts education! If you’re an artist looking to share your skills and make a difference, but are unsure where to start or just want to expand your teaching skillset, we want to talk to you!

Alabama Contemporary is launching trauma-informed outreach programming in 2027. We are looking for teaching artists interested in working with the various populations we serve. Outreach programs are built for:

  • Adults and children in transitional housing facilities (young mothers, unhoused, assisted living)
  • Refugee and Immigrant service organizations
  • Veterans
  • Trauma Survivor Groups
  • Early Stage Dementia and Alzheimer’s folks

The programs we build center on existing life skills programs and leverage arts education as a tool for healing, understanding and building individual and community resilience. We facilitate programs both at AC Satellite, and off-site with our community partners.

AC Outreach programming is interdisciplinary so visual artists, musicians, writers, and other creatives are all welcome. We will talk about the goals of our outreach programs, teacher training, and opportunities with our partner organizations, while scoping out our new facilities at AC Satellite.

This program is a part of the Teaching Artist Project (TAP) – an ongoing partnership between Mobile Arts Council, Mobile Museum of Art, and Alabama Contemporary Art Center, in which we maintain a joint roster of artists interested in teaching and outreach opportunities through our organizations.
