Contemporary Cuban Engraving from 1990 to 2015

Back to Havana artist Aliosky García Sosa will investigate the role of printmaking in contemporary Cuban art through the works of well-known Cuban printmakers such as Belkis Ayon, Ibrahim Miranda, Sandra Ramos, Abel Barroso, Zenen Vizcaíno, Alejandro Sainz, Norberto Marrero, Jannette Brossard, and Jesús Hernández.

Aliosky Garcia Sosa (b. 1979, Havana) is an artist and curator based in Havana whose figurative woodcut prints display an enigmatic symbolism. Garcia studied fine arts at Instituto Superior de Arte (ISA), Havana where he is Professor of Art and Director of Printmaking.

Selected solo exhibitions include Sala Rubén Martínez Villena | UNEAC, Havana, 2015; Palacio del Conde Lombillo, Havana, 2014; UNEAC, Pinar del Rio, 2013; Stiftung Bartels, Zum Kleinen Markgräflerhof, Basel 2013. Recent group exhibitions include Harrison Galleries, Tuscaloosa, 2016; Centro de Prensa Internacional, Havana, 2015; Firehouse Gallery, Bordentown, 2014; Multicultural Arts Center, Cambridge, 2014; Galería Francisco Oller, Universidad de Puerto Rico, San Juan, 2014; Spectrum Gallery, Edith Cowan University, Perth, 2014.
