PowerLines Poetry presents Shock Therapy: The Saturday Edition, a fusion of music and poetry. Celebrating their 6th Anniversary, PowerLines Poetry, a troupe of gifted artists aim to inspire and unite the community through the art of spoken word.

What is the difference between graffiti and street art? Why is public art important? How do artists get permission to create such colorful and lively scenes on public buildings and walls?

Photographer Julia Gorton will turn her camera on the Mobile scene and turn a portion of our Video Gallery into an Open Portrait Studio. If you were ever in a band, past or present, a showgoer, promoter, record store owner, bartender, or scene supporter in any way, we invite you to drop by and have your portrait made by Julia. Each portrait will be displayed in January 2024 in the upcoming Hurricane Party exhibition.

Join us at Alabama Contemporary Art Center for a night of spoken word in honor of our current exhibition Black River. Hosted by ACAC's own Tiffany Pogue, the night will include recitations from local poets and an open mic to follow.

Let your child explore the world of contemporary art through Alabama Contemporary Summer Camps! Our most popular summer camp is back! Campers, get ready to put your storytelling skills to the test for a week of animation projects that combine technology, art and collaboration.

Kindred Yoga will join us on the terrace at ACAC on the last Saturday morning of every month, from 9-10 a.m. This drop-in session will feature a 45-minute yoga flow followed by 15 minutes of mingling with fresh, cold-pressed juices for sale from Ginger & Spice.

Let your child explore the world of contemporary art through Alabama Contemporary Summer Camps! Inspired by the many printmaking techniques seen in the artwork of Back to Havana, campers will learn the basics of printmaking before exploring new applications such as monotypes, collographs and block prints.
