Public Programs

Using our exhibitions as a springboard, Alabama Contemporary hosts performances, activities, talks and public conversations throughout the year.

AC Satellite

AC Satellite will function as short term office space for our staff while our main galleries at 301 Conti Street undergo redevelopment, and long term as a collaborative community studio space that houses Alabama Contemporary’s Artist in Residence program, arts education, and pop up exhibitions.

Artist In Residence

Alabama Contemporary’s residency program is designed so that the artist may grow their practice and provide space to experiment outside their typical work. In its second iteration, the program offers free studio space and use of the facilities to one artist per two-year period, culminating in an exhibition of their work at the end of the residency.

Ace Theatre

Plans for restoring this critical piece of Mobile’s African American cultural history are now underway! Alabama Contemporary is proud to be a programming partner in the future Ace Theatre and is collecting any memories, stories, or anecdotes from community members who remember it best.
