Alabama Contemporary’s next major nine-month exhibition and community initiative features multimedia works by fifteen of Cuba’s foremost contemporary artists and explores Cuban culture through the categories of Home & Family, Play & Recreation, Travel & Transportation, Communications & Technology, and Dreams.

Join us for the final screening of our Cuba Premieres film series! Curated by local filmmaker, Gideon Kennedy, this collection of short films from “The Golden Age of Cuban Cinema” will kick off with Octavio Cortazar’s Por Primera Vez (For the First Time), followed by five short films by experimental Cuban filmmaker, Santiago Alvarez, whose “nervous montage” style is considered the precursor to the modern video clip.
