A Public Art Installation by Brian R. Jobe
Join us in welcoming artist Brian R. Jobe as he begins the architectural landscape intervention PAX (Saint Francis) at AC Satellite. The addition of a community-accessible labyrinth in the southeast corner of the property is an extension of the AC Satellite’s site-responsive approach to the property’s development. This labyrinthine space is a continuation of Jobe’s work constructing public corridors for contemplation and respite. The components of the labyrinth will be a design with native plantings at its core, delineating the path’s circuit, and containing a top course of glazed brick benches along the pathway interior, with the soda-fired bricks resulting from a future community-oriented on-site project. This space will offer the public a way to slow down and find rest in a liminal space that is both a journey and destination.
Jobe will start installation of this work the week of June 8, and speak about the work, its progress, and its future as a cornerstone of AC Satellite’s future Art Yard at Artwalk on June 12 at 7 p.m.
