Cheers to the Culture is a pop-up exhibition of portraits honoring modern-day geniuses who transformed limited circumstances into influence through resilience, perspective, and vision. Featuring new work by Jenyes, a local to Mobile, AL, this exhibition will open during Artwalk on September 11 from 6 to 9 p.m. with entry and drinks by donation, music, and a food truck onsite for those who are in it for the long haul.

About the Artist

Jordan Perryman, known artistically as Jenyes (pronounced genius), is a self-taught painter, graphic artist, and recording artist born in San Diego and raised in Mobile, Alabama. His creative journey began at the age of eight, inspired by his mother, an artist who first introduced him to oil paints and the transformative power of visual storytelling. That early exposure ignited a lifelong fascination with how art can turn abstraction into meaning. Often nicknamed “Pikasso” as a child, Perryman carried his visual sensibility into music before returning fully to the canvas under the name Jenyes. His multidisciplinary practice merges painting and sound, with each medium informing the other. Rooted in personal experience, his work explores memory, identity, resilience, and emotional truth through bold color, layered composition, and narrative depth.
