Whether you are an amateur artist or an established professional, writing an artist statement can be an intimidating and overwhelming task. But a good artist statement acts as a bridge between your intention and the viewers’ interpretation of the work, and can set you apart from the crowd in a big way.

But you might ask yourself… “What should my statement say about me? What should it say about my artwork? How long should it be? What if I am not a writer — can I still create a strong artist statement? Where do I start?

In this free workshop, ACAC Executive Director and Curator elizabet elliott will dive into these questions and more, covering the essentials of statement writing and demystifying the process from a curator’s perspective.

CAPACITY: 35 students | LENGTH: 2 hours | COST: FREE

Participants are encouraged to bring a writing utensil and a notebook or laptop for note-taking.
